At Hands to Hearts, our mission is simple yet profound: to empower rural communities in Baja Sur, Mexico, through education, resources, and self-sufficient medical programs. We believe that education, paired with the right tools, can transform lives, creating a world where health equity is not a distant dream but a tangible reality.
Hands to Hearts is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization dedicated to fostering self-reliance in underserved areas. Founded on the principles of health equality and community empowerment, we address critical gaps in healthcare access and education. From hosting life-saving workshops to providing essential medical supplies, our work focuses on eliminating dependency and building sustainable solutions for lasting impact.
We work collaboratively with local medical providers and community leaders to assess needs and implement tailored programs. By delivering leadership training, conducting health awareness workshops, and providing a safe space for learning, we empower individuals to take charge of their communities’ well-being.
We reject the notion of dependency on external aid. Instead, we emphasize self-sufficiency by training locals, creating resource-driven programs, and offering continued support.
Hands to Hearts has been administering tests for high-risk HPV which can cause cervical cancer. Through April of 2025, 174 women have been screened. Of those, 45% tested positive for HPV and were referred for further screening.
At this time, the organization has paused the Cervical Cancer initiative due to malfunctioning equipment. The hope is to re-start this project in the future.
From First Aid and CPR training to health awareness workshops, our educational offerings equip community members with essential life-saving skills and knowledge. These programs are designed to empower individuals and promote leadership within their communities. Over 2,500 people have been trained in life-support techniques.
Education alone isn’t enough. That’s why we also provide access to medical supplies, tools, and infrastructure necessary to sustain these initiatives long-term. So far, over 3,500 pounds of medical supplies have been donated to local hospitals and volunteer centers.
